Dubai Police arrest three-member gang involved in 'multiplying money'
Police arrested a three-member gang involved in conning people by convincing them they have the skills and ability to multiply their money.
Dubai: Police arrested a three-member gang involved in conning people by convincing them they have the skills and ability to multiply their money.
An Arab national informed the police about an African gang involved in multiplying money. The gang asked the Arab national to find an investor willing to pay $50,000, "which will be multiplied to $5 million by using clever tricks and black magic".
The African gang was able to convince the man and turned a $100 note into $200.
The police formed a team and conducted an undercover operation. One of the team members, disguised as a person interested in getting his money multiplied, approached the gang. As soon as the gang members got into their act, the police raided the place and found "huge sums of money and fake passports".
"victims are conned into believing that their money will instantly multiply, but they will wake up one day to find all their saving were lost as they were conned by these African gangs," said Colonel Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
