Dubai marks anti-narcotics day with pledge to fight the menace
More than 70 kilograms of narcotics, costing around Dh35 million, were seized in major drug hauls by Dubai Police from January 2008 till May, said Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Acting Chief of Dubai Police, on Wednesday, marking the World Anti-Narcotics Day.

The UAE has a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and takes stringent measures to curb drug trafficking, he said.
Since the UAE is located at a strategic geographical point, there would be attempts to transit drugs through Dubai and all measures would be taken to stall such attempts, he said.
