Dubai: A drunk driver will spend a year in jail for jumping a red signal, hitting a minibus, causing a worker's death and injuring three others, a court has ruled.
The Dubai Traffic Court of First Instance ordered the Indian driver, S.H., to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the family of the deceased.
The Traffic Public Prosecution charged the defendant with consuming liquor, driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol and jumping a red signal, causing a worker's death.
Three others were also injured in the massive collision which happened near Abu Hail.
