Driver jailed for molesting female shopper at mall
A man has been jailed for flashing at a female shopper in a hypermarket and molesting her.
Dubai: A man has been jailed for flashing at a female shopper in a hypermarket and molesting her.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 29-year-old Egyptian driver to three months in jail. The driver pleaded guilty to flashing in the store but denied molesting the unidentified shopper, saying, "I didn't touch her."
A security guard identified the driver, known as M.J., on surveillance cameras.
The Public Prosecution charged the accused with molesting the shopper, who was not identified in records, breaching her privacy and acting indecently in a public place.
Records said the security guard watched M.J. open his fly, expose himself and follow the shopper.
When she bent over to check some items displayed on one of the shelves, the defendant reportedly stood behind and molested her.
The accused failed to hire a lawyer to take up his defence.
Public Prosecution records said he confessed to the charges. The authorities seized the camera footage which showed the accused committing the crime and used it as evidence against him in court.
He will be deported after serving his jail term.
