Dubai: A dentist is seeking to clear her name after a court convicted her of driving another woman's vehicle that blocked her way in a parking lot.

The 35-year-old Iraqi dentist is seeking to acquit herself before the Dubai Court of Cassation, which is expected to look into the doctor's appeal as soon as a hearing is scheduled.

The Dubai Appeals Court recently confirmed the indictment of the dentist and fined her Dh1,000 for driving the Emirati woman's vehicle and assaulting her.

Prosecutors accused the Iraqi of pushing the Emirati twice and driving the latter's vehicle without her permission in the parking lot of a mall in Dubai.

Lawyer Uday Al Qazwini, of Dar Al Balagh Advocates and Legal Consultants, who is defending the dentist, told Gulf News that they have appealed the Court of Appeal's judgment and are planning to clear his client's name before the Cassation Court.

The 35-year-old suspect pleaded guilty before the Courts of Misdemeanour and Appeal on the charge of driving the 30-year-old Emirati woman's vehicle.

However, she denied the charge of assaulting the Emirati and strongly refuted what she described as baseless allegations that she pushed the claimant twice.
