Dubai: Six Chinese men have been cleared of raiding a flat while brandishing swords and knives and wearing masks due to lack of evidence.

The Dubai Court of First Instance acquitted the six men, 35-year-old J.Y., 36-year-old Z.H., 48-year-old A.C., 26-year-old A.Y., 27-year-old Z.J. and 50-year-old L.Y. after it labelled the evidence presented against the suspects as uncorroborated.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to using weapons to frighten the victims and stealing Dh7,500, three laptops, five cell phones, four gold rings and two women's watches, as charged by the Public Prosecution.

One of the alleged victims said the perpetrators used plastic rope to tie them up.
