Appeal against jail term to two men for raping boy

The Dubai Public Prosecution has filed an appeal against a jail sentence of 15 years handed down against two Emirati men for raping a French boy, according to court sources.

Dubai: The Dubai Public Prosecution has filed an appeal against a jail sentence of 15 years handed down against two Emirati men for raping a French boy, according to court sources.

The sources confirmed that the appeal has been filed, but the hearing date has not been decided yet.

The Dubai Court of First Instance had sentenced the men - a 35-year-old man who is HIV positive and his 18-year-old compatriot to 15 years in jail each - and referred the victim's compensation claim of Dh15 million to a civil court.
