Abu Dhabi: Police seized 42 overloaded vehicles from Abu Dhabi highway in the first half of 2008.
Abu Dhabi Police impounded the vehicles for a week, fined each of them Dh200 and registered three black points against each of them.
Field-intensive campaign on highways is under way to ensure safe traffic, said Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ahmad, head of the section.
He urged highway users to adhere to mandatory speed, adding that traffic campaigns would continue on the highways.
