Aaina wanted to become a movie star, says brother
Aaina Malek, a young Pakistani dancer, who died after a fire broke out in a Bur Dubai flat on June 30, wanted to become a film and television star, said her brother.

Dubai: Aaina Malek, a young Pakistani dancer, who died after a fire broke out in a Bur Dubai flat on June 30, wanted to become a film and television star, said her brother.
"She was a very talented girl and wanted to be a television star but she could not realise her dreams," said Irfan Malek, her brother, who is in Dubai to take her body.
He said she came to Dubai to perform as an entertainer and she did not intend to continue dancing in clubs. She completed her high school two years ago and was also doing some modelling jobs in Karachi.
Malek said that he was here to take the body of his sister. He said police have been very cooperative and they told him to wait for some more days to get the body until they complete investigations.

"My mother and other family members back home are in pain as they have desperately been waiting for Aaina's body for the last six days. The first thing we want is to take her body back home and then pursue the case. We want to bury her because it is painful for all of us," Malek said.
Police said they would refer the case to the public prosecution as they have already taken into custody the manager and two girls of the Asian nightclub called Deedar in Seashell Inn Hotel in Bur Dubai.
"The club manager and other suspects will be referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of suppressing the freedom of people by locking them up," a police officer said.
The official said the preliminary report from the fire expert revealed that the fire broke out from an oil lamp, which was used by the two other girls for worshipping.
The oil lamp was kept in the cupboard and they left it lit when they went for work at the club on the night of the incident.
More than 12 club dancers were lodged in the flat by the management. While the other girls had left for work on the night of the incident, Aaina and her friend Lucky stayed back as they wanted to rest after their flight to change their visas.
Medical reports suggested that Aaina Malek died of suffocation as she was trapped in the burning flat. She was already dead when she reached the hospital. She had second degree burn marks on her arms and back.
Her friend and roommate Lucky (Tahira Hijjab), who was also in the flat at the time of the fire, was rescued by neighbours.
