123 illegal immigrants arrested

Sharjah: Police this year have arrested 123 Asian men, who were found to have been living illegally in the country or who had run away from their sponsors.

Many of those arrested were found to have been bootlegging in workers' accommodations. The arrests were made after a campaign kicked off at the beginning of January by the Criminal Investigation Department.

The campaign focused on industrial, commercial and residential areas, and targeted people who illegally worked in such professions in cleaning cars, collecting garbage, selling products along the street.
