Dubai Center for Special Needs organises Open Day for public
During this year’s Open Day, which takes place tomorrow from 9.30am to 1pm, the public is invited to come see our students at work in their classrooms and watch a choir performance at 11am, which is especially prepared by the students.
We will also have an exhibition of items made by our students including baked goods, mosaic art, decorative items, paintings and jewellery. There will be about 40 to 50 paintings made by the students on sale during Open Day.
As a charitable non-profit organisation, DCSN is fully dependent on the UAE community for support, which is why all of the proceeds from the sale go directly to our students.
Our Open day is an excellent opportunity, not just for our students to showcase their talents, but also for the members of the local community to actively participate in this event and to witness a day in the life of the students.
Open Day helps us raise awareness for the centre and special needs, but it also helps the students by giving them an interactive and exciting day. They love having people come to visit and they’re always friendly, saying hello and introducing themselves.
The students have been preparing their art work and crafts for months. When they perform on stage for the choir, seeing a full audience watch their performance also gives them a great boost of confidence and joy.
Please do join us on this day to celebrate the accomplishments of our students. We look forward to welcoming community members to share this day with us.
Other than Open Day, people are welcome to donate various things such as clothing and household items that are in good condition. Volunteers are also welcome to register and help out with the centre during other events or their free time. DCSN has 135 students receiving specialised and individual academic instruction, therapies, and a variety of life enhancing activities in order to bring purpose and value into their lives.
