Street lights needed
Authorities urged to act with haste before a major accident occurs in Al Nahda, Dubai

I am a resident of Al Nahda 1 in Dubai and I would like to inform people of the hazards and dangers being faced by residents of this area.
There are no street lights or pavements in our area and this poses a great risk to the lives of people walking on the roads at night. It is pitch black before sunrise and after sunset and cars and buses fill the roads.
Due to the darkness, pedestrians cannot be seen and there is a great danger of them being run over by a car or bus. RTA bus number 22 stops on our road at the bus stops, which are also in complete darkness. This is a major accident waiting to happen.
There are schoolchildren waiting for their school buses and crossing the roads, too. We badly need street lights here immediately to avoid any major disaster.
