Gulf News reader Jen D. took these photos to call attention to a potential safety hazard Dubai residents face on a regular basis. She said: “As a concerned resident I would like to share these photos, which were taken in Port Saeed Deira, near a petrol station. This open excavation is two meters deep and no safety measures have been implemented to protect passers-by. It has been this way for more than three months now. The tenants who stay in the adjacent building walk past this hazard on a daily basis and use a piece of plywood to cross the hole. If someone were to fall into the opening it could cause serious injury to them. Through this report I hope to bring this issue to the attention of the concerned authorities so they can take immediate action.”
