  • Carbon emissions are a huge concern. Heavy vehicles should be better-maintained in order to prevent high levels of pollution being pumped into the atmosphere.

In recent days, concern for the environment has become a major topic in the media. But I do not see much done on the practical side, which is why I'd like to highlight the issue I see every day in Fujairah.

Many heavy vehicles like pick-up trucks ply on the main road from Fujairah's Freezone to Khor Fakkan every day. These are not maintained properly, which is why they emit a black cloud of smoke. Though there is great awareness about the repercussions of carbon emissions, still, these poorly maintained vehicles give out a huge amount of exhaust fumes every day, which poses an environmental threat.

Carbon emissions are a huge concern. The issue should be addressed immediately by the Municipality and environmentalists in Fujairah, as the city is already facing pollution from the quarries and oil refineries. Taking into account residents' health, I request the authorities to issue a warning to motorists to maintain vehicles in order to ensure a healthier environment.
