This report is with reference to the garbage collection by Tandeef, a division of the Sharjah Environment Company Bee’ah, in my area, Abu Shagara in Sharjah.
There are several garbage bins placed next to my building and my concern is the timing of garbage collection, which are extremely irregular.
On some days, the garbage collection truck arrives after 11pm and sometimes even between midnight and 1am. The process of loading the garbage on to the truck takes at least 15 minutes and the noise causes a lot of disturbance for the residents nearby, especially the ones living on the first five floors as it becomes impossible to sleep. It is the most annoying for children who sleep only when there is complete silence and no disturbance.
I do understand that the night time may be apt for collection, as people dispose trash over the course of the day.
But, since it is too late and causes inconvenience for people who need to sleep after a hard day’s work, I request the concerned authorities to make some adjustments for when they have to collect the trash.
The most suitable timing for collection in my opinion is in the morning, after the peak hours, at around 9am.
That is the time when most of the residents are either awake or not at home. There is also no traffic during these hours in residential areas, which would make it easier for the workers collecting the trash.
I do understand the hard work put in by these workers and appreciate them for the same. I also appreciate the exceptional work done by Bee’ah to clean up Sharjah. But I also hope the authorities work out a timing that is suitable for both the residents and workers.
