- Motorists are risking their lives as well as others’ by taking U-turns in nondesignated areas in the Al Ghafiya locality in Sharjah.
I am a resident of Al Ghafiya locality in Sharjah. Almost three months ago two U-turns were closed by Sharjah Municipality on Shaikh Khalid Al Qasimi Road following several accidents because the roads are designed wrong. Now, drivers are forced to take a U-turn from a non U-turn area, as shown in the accompanying photographs, which is very risky and a cause for concern. There is no other option for drivers as otherwise they have to take a very long ride to reach the next U-turn. I request that the Sharjah Municipality either open the closed U-turns or construct new ones on this road on an urgent basis in order to avoid any accidents.
