Well appreciated Gulf News and the people behind saving these poor creatures! I agree with Vineet if somebody could take the initiative to launch an awareness programme in our city.I'm sure many animalovers would join in and support this cause. The plight of animals especially dogs is miserable because of the attitudes of people and some rules. For example, unlike in other parts of the world , having pets in one's house is bound by rules in [some] accomodation contracts , it is stated " pets not allowed" . I simply don't understand why this rule exists even. Why can't they at least permit small dogs in apartments. LIVE and LET LIVE! It is really sad that such a rule exists. I'm sure many people would love to care for these animals but for these rules for apartments! Why don't they stop importing of dogs for sale . This would atleast reduce the number of abandoned dogs. Then , people would not have a chance to have them in the first place to mistreat them ! It's time for people of Dubai to think and act on behalf of these poor creatures.

GN is really doing a great job by bringing out heart rending as well as heartwarming stories about the plight of animals in the UAE. It would be great if GN could launch an initiative where they educate the public especially in schools the respect we should give to all living beings in this world. Everyone is not expected to love animals but we can at least teach people not to be cruel to animals and for those who abandon their pets and leave with no remorse what can one say but Watch out, what goes around comes around If we can form a group where people can educate and create awareness through schools universities about sustainable environment in the UAE, can we not include this in the same initiative? Food for thought, if there are any likeminded people out there, please let us get together and do something concrete
