Saudi official to discuss Yemen's GCC entry

Several other issues of mutual concern, including combating terrorism, preventing cross-border smuggling and infiltration as well as strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields will also be discussed.
Speaking to Gulf News, Abdullah Al Ahwal, Yemen's ambassador to the kingdom, said Prince Sultan will hold talks with Yemen's leaders, including President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Prime Minister Abdul Qader Bajammal, about the steps to be taken prior to its joining as a member of GCC in a phased manner. Prince Sultan will also co-preside over the meeting of the Saudi-Yemeni Coordination Council, he said.
"The council will discuss in details various topics concerning bilateral security as well as the progress of steps being taken in fighting terror, foiling smuggling and expanding areas of security cooperation," he said.
According to Al Ahwal, Prince Sultan's meeting with Yemen leaders will be held at Mokalla, in Hadra Maut region. Several agreements to finance development projects in Yemen will also be signed in the presence of Prince Sultan and Yemeni leaders.
These projects include those in the fields of road, ports, technical education, power and gas. A protocol for Saudi Arabia's financing of multimillion riyal projects in Yemen will also be signed on the occasion.
Prince Sultan will visit Aden on the third day of the tour to the country.
