Manama: A Saudi woman has asked for divorce after her husband whipped her for allegedly spending too much time on her BlackBerry.
The woman has complained to the police in northern Dammam that her husband has often beaten her and that on the last occasion he whipped her and hit her with a sharp object, Saudi daily Madinah reported on Wednesday.
The woman who was treated at a Dammam's central hospital said that she left the house to live with a relative and that she was determined to be divorced.
The husband later told the police that his wife was ignoring him by spending too much time using her BlackBerry.
The police said that she was investigating the "domestic case."
