Riyadh: Saudi Crown Prince and Defence Minister Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz is heading to France for a three-day official visit on July 20, a Saudi official said.
French President Jacques Chirac hopes the visit will lead to the sealing of defence contracts, officials say.
Sultan is also due to meet French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin "for talks that will cover ways of boosting bilateral cooperation, especially military cooperation".
A French source said there will be talks on a deal covering fighter planes, refueling planes, tanks, frigates and submarines.
The total value of the contracts could reach $51 billion dollars, the source said.
