Riyadh: Security forces in Makkah have finalised arrangements to receive pilgrims in Ramadan by mobilising more than 6,700 officers and servicemen from all security sectors, said the Director of Public Security Lt. General Saeed Bin Abdullah Al Qah'tani
In press statements yesterday, he said that teams from the Special Haj and Umrah force ordered by Minister of Interior Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz will participate in implementation of the Ramadan security plan for the first time.
The Road Security Forces, Makkah Traffic Police, as well as the Special Forces will work together with security forces to ensure that everything will go smoothly throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ramadan security plan introduces solutions to the movement of pilgrims between parking areas outside of the Holy Mosque.
The plan also concentrates on fighting crime and maintaining security for worshipers in the Holy Mosque and the surrounding city streets.
According to the plan, the squares surrounding the holy mosque will be divided into three parts. The Special Forces on Haj and Umrah Security will undertake the responsibility of the eastern squares while the Support Force will be responsible for the security of the northern squares.
Finally, the Makkah Emergency Forces will monitor the southern squares.
Large expansions of the areas surrounding the Holy Mosque were carried out to facilitate the arrival and departure of visitors.
