Italian mission issues alert
The Italian Embassy in Doha has called on Italian nationals to be on alert following an attack on the country's consulate in Libya.
Doha: The Italian Embassy in Doha has called on Italian nationals to be on alert following an attack on the country's consulate in Libya.
"The mission invites Italian nationals to be cautious following the incidents in Libya," stated the warden's message addressed to some 350 Italians living in the Gulf country.
Meanwhile local papers reported Doha-based Islamic scholar Yousuf Al Qaradawi as saying that the cartoons published in the Danish newspaper were "a blessing in disguise" because "they proved that the Muslim countries are still one nation.
"The waves of protests over the cartoons from Indonesia to Morocco are evidence that we are still united, though torn apart by politics. It proves again that religion is still a stimulating force for Muslims, in contrast with the Western people where religion is of marginal interest," he said while addressing worshippers during his Friday sermon at Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque.
