Manama: Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Said will start on Monday an official two-day visit to Kuwait, Kuwaiti media reported.

It will be the Sultan’s first visit to Kuwait since 2005, Al Siyassah daily said.

Talks will focus on bilateral relations and cooperation, the 30th Gulf Cooperation Council summit held in Kuwait in December, and the latest regional and international developments.

“The visit by Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to the State of Kuwait is part of ongoing efforts to bolster ties between the two nations and unify stances on all issues of mutual concern,” Shamlan Abdul Aziz Al Roumi, Kuwait's Ambassador to Oman, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

“The visit also reflects the Omani leadership's keenness on close coordination and strong relations within the Gulf region. The results of the recent GCC Summit in Kuwait will be high on the leaders' talks,” he said.

Al Roumi said he was optimistic the volume of trade and investment exchanges would be boosted, stressing that the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) will play “a big role in the process.”

According to the diplomat, around 700 Omani students are currently enrolled in Kuwait universities and institutes, while 200 Kuwaitis are studying in Oman.
