Muscat: As light to heavy rains fell on parts of Oman on Friday, people of Bahla, northwest of the country, offered prayers for more rain.

Prayers for rain were led by Ishaq Bin Saif Al Zahimi, Imam of Wadi Sidav in Saad district in Bahla.

The district has been facing a scarcity of water for agricultural and drinking purposes, according to a report by Arabic daily Shabiba.

According to residents of the area, water levels in local wells have gone down considerably and springs have almost dried up.

The residents pointed out that due to scarcity of water, trees have dried up.

Meanwhile, some parts of Muscat, Sumayil in north and parts of eastern region experienced rains on Friday evening, according to the Meteorological Department.
