Oman issues Umrah travel precautions
The Omani Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has banned the elderly, children and patients from performing Umrah to ensure the public safety in the wake of the outbreak of swine flu (H1N1) across the world.
Muscat: The Omani Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has banned the elderly, children and patients from performing Umrah to ensure the public safety in the wake of the outbreak of swine flu (H1N1) across the world, Oman's official news agency reported on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, old people, patients and children are not allowed to perform Umrah in order to ensure their safety and that of other pilgrims.
It called upon people who want to perform Umrah to take all the necessary precautionary measures in coordination with the Health Ministry.
