Oman flays Israel for Gaza attacks
Oman has condemned Israel's attack on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and has urged the world to put pressure on Israel to stop these kind of attacks.
Muscat: Oman has condemned Israel's attack on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and has urged the world to put pressure on Israel to stop these kind of attacks.
"We condemn this act of Israel," Oman's Information minister Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Rashdi said after formally inaugurating the media centre for the 29th GCC Summit.
Israeli warplanes and combat helicopters pounded the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing more than 250 people in the bloodiest day for Palestinians in more than 20 years of conflict.
GCC meeting
He said the Palestinian issue always featured in the meetings of GCC leaders and would again feature and be one of the major issues on the agenda when the six leaders meet in Muscat for the 29th Summit on Monday and Tuesday.
"The GCC leaders will take up this issue during their meeting and as always pass a resolution strongly supporting the Palestinian cause," Al Rashdi said.
He also urged Palestinian factions to sit together and resolve their difference if they were to be successful against Israel.
"We urge the world leaders to put pressure on Israel to stop such act of killings," he said.
