Illegal residents caught in raids carried out in Ruwi district
Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have arrested 249 people of Asian nationalities from Ruwi district of Muscat. This is part of a continuous crackdown against the illegal labour force in the country,
“The arrested Asian expatriates have been charged with infiltration and violation of Oman’s residency law as well as labour law,” a ROP spokesman said.
Combined teams of ROP’s different divisions and Ministry of Manpower carried out the pre-dawn raids.
The entire operation was carried out with the support from the Command of the Special Task Force, Department of Crime Control, the Joint Inspection Team, in coordination with the Public Prosecution.
The police have urged employers not to hire illegal expatriates.
