Manama: Kuwait on Sunday denied reports that Prime Minister Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad has a Twitter account.
"HH the Prime Minister does not have an account on Twitter," Nayef Al Rukaibi, the cabinet's undersecretary for local affairs, said.
"Someone is impersonating the prime minister under a false account and we will take the necessary legal measures against him," he said in a brief statement.
The official did not mention whether the authorities knew the identity of the impersonator.
On Saturday, reports in Kuwait claimed Shaikh Nasser had opened an account in which he said that he was keen on communicating with followers and on getting to know their views.
"Please allow me to be with you," the bogus account said.
