Manama: Kuwait's administrative court has thrown out a lawsuit to bar a former lawmaker from seeking a new term in parliament.
Voters in the Second Constituency had filed a case to have a ban on ex-MP Khalaf Dumaifir from running in the parliamentary elections on February 2.
According to the filed papers, the former lawmaker has had a court ruling against him in the past and cannot, under the country's elections laws, be a candidate in the national elections.
Khalaf was among a group of candidates who were initially barred by the interior ministry from running upon a recommendation from an ad-hoc committee.
However, the ministry's decision was challenged and the candidates, including hig-profile figure ex-MP Faisal Al Mislim, were reinstated.
Badr Al Zair, the lawyer for the voters, said that he would take the case to the appeals court.
