Security crucial for development, says Bahraini prime minister
Villages and cities that have witnessed riots and violence will be deprived of development projects until security is restored, the Cabinet warned on Monday.
Manama: Villages and cities that have witnessed riots and violence will be deprived of development projects until security is restored, the Cabinet warned on Monday.
Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa instructed ministries not to commence development projects in areas hit with sabotage and riots until securing stability for the safety of those implementing the projects.
Shaikh Khalifa said that development was crucially linked to security and stability.
There would be no steady development with vandalism, he said, adding that no one was above the law. This came at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to develop villages, he said.
Ministries were instructed to sack employees who would be convicted of involvement of sabotage.
Ahmad Al Zayed, acting chief of the Civil Service Bureau, said in a statement on Monday that a memo was sent to all public organisations ordering them to obey the new rule as public employees shouldn't be involved in such illegal activities.
Al Zayed said the termination of contract would be done after the court gives its verdict.
He said that those convicted would be excluded as candidates for future job opportunities in the public sector.
