Manama: An offensive T-shirt worn by a guitarist has resulted in the cancellation of a multi-band concert at a local hotel.
The Sri Lankan guitarist was summoned by the police and taken to a Manama station where he was asked to change his T-shirt that read "God is busy … Can I help?".
The "offensive" T-shirt was confiscated and the guitarist later left the station wearing a new shirt bearing the image of pop star Craig David.
The concert, a combination of a rock show and a battle of Gulf-based bands, was in the meantime cancelled allegedly as a result of "inappropriate clothing", causing outrage among the hundreds of fans.
Conservative MPs in the lower house have often cautioned against allowing rock concerts in Bahrain, claiming that many of the people involved were implicated in Satanic practices.
