Manama: A car crash in Saudi Arabia and two home fires in Bahrain cost eight Bahrainis their lives in two days.
A woman in her late 50s, her daughter-in-law and three grandchildren were killed on Saturday when the car in which they were travelling to Madinah after performing Umrah met with an accident.
Three other Bahrainis, including the driver, are still at the King Fahd Hospital receiving treatment, local media said.
Elsewhere, a mother and her daughter died on Saturday morning after a fire broke out at their home In Eisa Town, in central Bahrain.
Attempts by family members and neighbours to rescue the wheelchair-bound mother in her 70s and her daughter failed.
In another fatal fire, a woman died in a blaze at her house in Al Quraya, west of Manama, police said on Sunday.
The Interior Ministry later indicated on its Twitter account that initial investigations pointed to a case of arson and that the competent authorities were looking into the case.
