Manama: A Bahraini court on Wednesday gave prison terms of five years to 13 defendants and one year to six defendants on charges of attacking a police station.
According to the National Safety Court of First Instance, the defendants blocked the roads taking to Al Khamees police station using trash bins and hurled Molotov cocktails, steel rods and stones at the offices. The defendants also formed a gathering to undermine public order and security, the court said Under Bahrain's laws, the defendants have the right to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeals and at the Court of Cassation.
In a separate case, a minor court postponed the trial of Jawad Fairooz, a former lawmaker who lost his parliamentary immunity after he resigned in February alongside the other 17 members of Al Wefaq, to November 21. He is being tried on charges of inciting for the hatred of the regime.
