Manila: President Gloria Arroyo returned to the president's palace yesterday after spending three days in a hospital following a bout with influenza.
The president's attending physician, Dr Juliet Gopez-Cervantez, said she allowed Arroyo to leave the Saint Luke's Medical Centre in suburban Quezon City but she strictly advised her to continue resting until tomorrow.
She was allowed to return to the palace on her insistence provided that she gets enough rest, Gopez-Cervantez told reporters awaiting word on the president.
"She really needs rest. That is the best medicine for her," Gopez-Cervantez said. The president had been given intravenous fluids after she was admitted to the hospital after suffering a bout of influenza.
A statement issued by the palace said Arroyo had pledged to change her lifestyle after being bed-ridden since Thursday afternoon.
"The president assured that she would stick to a 10am to 3pm schedule for public engagements and keep her dinner engagements light to avoid stress," the statement said on the day doctors discharged Arroyo.
