Islamabad: Sartaj Aziz, the prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs said on return from a visit to Kabul that the two sides had agreed to revive mutual trust.
In an interview to the state-run Pakistan Television, Aziz said they had also agreed against indulging in blame-games and issuing statements against each other.
He added that Afghanistan’s foreign minister would visit Pakistan in the first week of November.
During his Kabul visit the adviser held meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Gani and Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Sixth Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VI).
Aziz said he had conveyed concerns over anti-Pakistan statements by Afghan officials, adding the issue of Pakistan Embassy’s security in Kabul was also discussed.
Pakistani leadership have consistently backed reconciliation process in Afghanistan and the country hosted in July a round of talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
A second round was scheduled in the same month but was postponed indefinitely after reports of the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar and problems related to succession.
