Padang: The airport in Padang on Indonesia's Sumatra island is closed for inspection after a 7.6- magnitude quake struck off the coast today, Bambang Ervan, a spokesman at Indonesia's Transport Ministry, said by phone in Jakarta.
"The airport serving Padang has been closed from the afternoon so that we can check the details of the damage," he said.
"It may reopen tomorrow. The runway is unaffected. There is no problem at the tower. What we know is the ceiling in the boarding area fell."
