Patna: A ruling Janata Dal United (JD-U) lawmaker from Bihar Monday has been accused of seeking an extortion of Rs2 million from two doctors, a day after another lawmaker was sent to jail for allegedly molesting a minor girl on a running train.
Two doctors, Bikram Singh Chauhan and Nawal Kishore Pandey, have in a complaint petition to the police alleged the JD-U lawmaker Shyam Bahadur Singh threatened them with dire consequences if they did not cough up the said amount. The victim doctors hail from Siwan district of Bihar.
Singh who represents Badharia seat (in Siwna district) in the Bihar assembly was earlier found dancing with the bar girls in public.
The incident has drawn strong criticisms from the opposition but the government said the accused would not be spared. “Anyone committing the crime will be arrested. The government will not spare anyone howsoever mighty there are,” Bihar’s deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav told the media Monday.
The development comes barely a day after a Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Tunna Pandey was arrested for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl on a running express train, prompting the party to suspend the lawmaker.
