Puebla: Mexican experts found the remains of three men in barrels filled with acid and more victims are likely to be identified, a prosecution source in Puebla state told AFP on Saturday.

Authorities tipped off by an anonymous call had discovered ten barrels and nine bags with mutilated human remains on Thursday in the municipality of San Andres Calpan, about 110 kilometers east of Mexico City.

Investigators have so far identified pelvic remains of three men, one of them in his 50s, the source told AFP on condition of anonymity.

“It’s likely more than three people, we still need to study the contents of the bags,” the source added.

The prosecutor’s office said the discovery may be linked to the disappearance of three men who went missing on Tuesday after gunmen stormed an illegal cockfight and opened fire in the nearby town of Cuautlancingo.
