Abu Dhabi: A number of slipways for boats and jet skis have recently been constructed near waterways in the capital, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today.

These are located off Yas Island, and in Al Mina Port in Abu Dhabi city. Another three slipways will be set up by 2017 at Abu Dhabi Gate, Al Saadiyat Island and Al Hudairiyat Island.

In addition to the slipway, each project also includes backyard for boats, a car park, and boundary fences.

In its statement, the municipality also reminded marine vehicle owners that it is prohibited to use jet skis at the waterways in Al Bateen, Ras Al Akhdar, Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Raha Beach, Al Maqta and the northern section of Saadiyat Island in order to ensure the safety of beachgoers and swimmers.

This is mandated by the emirate’s municipal sector regulator, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport.
