Dubai: New police kiosk machines will provide more than 20 smart services when they replace the existing 30 devices over the next two years, Dubai Police officials announced at a press conference on Monday.
The new devices use Avaya SmartConnect solutions, which will be launched during the ongoing Gitex Technology Week.
Mohammad Arif, Managing Director of GCC, Levant, Iraq and Pakistan at Avaya, said that SmartConnect is designed to transform traditional call centre services to real-time smart customer engagement opportunities, and deliver on any device including smart and mobile phones, kiosks, and self-service stations, to name a few.
Colonel Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, General Director of Smart Services at Dubai Police, said that the new devices allow the public to have access to Dubai Police services round the clock.
“People can get their certificate of good conduct printed within a few minutes from the kiosk machine, or access most of Dubai Police’s smart services or pay fines. One can also get into contact with one of Dubai Police’s call centre operators through video/voice,” Col Al Razooqi said.
The kiosks will verify the users’ identity through National ID and fingerprint, and will accept cash and credit card.
The device will be launched in its trial phase during Gitex. Dubai Police will then use people’s feedback to enhance the public’s experience. “The data is secure, as Dubai Police use the latest security measures,” he said.
The device takes into consideration people with physical disabilities, and will be accessible to a person in a wheelchair.
The new kiosk machines cut down the need for people to visit police stations to finish their paperwork, as they can talk to a Dubai Police officer and get their documents printed all through the machine, he noted.
This is in line with the Dubai Smart Government initiative and the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.
