Dubai: An Islamic centre dedicated to helping new Muslims grow in their faith and in number will open in Al Barsha soon.

Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, Director-General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), recently inspected the Mohammad Bin Rashid Islamic Cultural Centre’s building in Al Barsha.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, instructed the department to implement the project in 2012 at a plot he allocated in Al Barsha after meeting a group of new Muslims.

Al Shaibani has emphasised that the centre is a beacon for the local and Islamic cultures and for all citizens and residents, and the department will supply the centre with whatever is needed for its cultural and community roles.

The centre will organise events and programmes to introduce Emirati and Islamic culture, traditions and values. It will also liaise with visitors and residents to make sure their needs are met.

The centre includes classes, meeting halls, an auditorium, a library, and offices.

Al Shaibani expressed his deep gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad for his continuous support for the cultural and social activities of IACAD and for inter-faith dialogue.
