Dubai/Sharjah: Celebrations have begun in the country ahead of UAE's 37th National Day on Tuesday.
Public parking in Dubai will be free of charge from tomorrow to December 11 in view of the National Day and Eid Al Adha holidays. However, parking in prohibited areas and parking in areas designated for special needs individuals will attract fines.
Dubai Municipality started its National Day festivities, yesterday. Hussain Nasser Lootah, acting director-general, cut a cake decorated with the four colours of the UAE flag.
Municipality staff will take part in the National March from Jumeirah Beach Park to Union Square on Monday.
The Ministry of Education has also celebrated National Day in its Dubai premises, which included various cultural activities.
Rashid Salem Lakraibani Al Nuaimi, Director-General, Ministry of Education, said: "December 2 is a glorious day for all Emiratis since it represents a distinctive mark and historical moment in the lives of our nation."
Classic car owners will display their vehicles, dating back to the 1920s, at a two-day festival in Sharjah and Dubai.
Global Village staff will wear the colours of the national flag on Tuesday to commemorate National Day.
Calendar: Variety of events
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, will lead a National Day procession from Jumeira Road to Union House today from 1pm to 7pm.
An air show will be held in Dubai and Hatta.
Stage shows, including dance drama, entertainment, heritage shows, and raffle prize draws will be held at Zabeel Park's traditional theatre between , 7pm and 11pm till December 3.
