Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will inaugurate on Saturday the new headquarters of the Culture and Science Association in Al Mamzar.
The opening ceremony is part of the association's 20th anniversary celebrations. Winners of the 19th and 20th editions of the Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence will be honoured during the celebration.
Some 396 UAE National holders of doctorate and master's degrees and Medical Fellowships will be honoured for winning the 19th edition of the Shaikh Rashid Award on Saturday.
Winners of the 20th edition of the award comprising 459 Emiratis - holders of PhD and masters degrees, and winners of the Al Owais Award for Scientific Studies and Creativity will be honoured on Saturday.
The celebration programme and its activities were announced yesterday at a press conference held by Ebrahim Bu Melha, chairman of the association. The names of winners of the award in its two previous editions, and names of the winners of the Al Owais Award for Scientific Studies and Creativity were announced at the conference.
Bu Melha spoke about the association's achievements since its establishment and its distinguished role in enhancing culture and science in the country. He said the culture association's establishment was in line with the vision of Shaikh Mohammad and it has been receiving great support from him.
"The association has carried out a lot of cultural and scientific activities and has been playing a leading role in enriching the cultural scene and scientific field at local, regional and international levels."
He added that it supervises the organisation of the Rashid and the Al Owais awards to encourage young talented nationals and honour the outstanding ones in both cultural and scientific fields.
