Sharjah: Police arrested a Yemeni and an Asian for running a begging racket.
The Yemeni suspect used to bring in people on visit visas and make them beg; a per cent of the money they made went in as commission for the Yemeni, said Sharjah Police.
Interestingly, according to the police, the Yemeni sent Dh46,000 to his bank deposit in his home country in just one month.
The suspect used to pick up and drop the beggars, all of them illegals, from their accommodation to the area of operation.
In a separate operation, Sharjah Police arrested an Asian who ran a 70-member gang of beggars; all of them entered the country illegally.
