Missed it, so renewed I started reading Gulf News in 1998, when I first came to the UAE and have become a regular ever since. I moved to Bahrain in April of 2007. There, I missed reading the newspaper so I decided to renew my subscription, as the local newspapers could not measure up for me. Even before I subscribed, I would visit the online edition every day. It might be worth noting that all of my jobs in the region, two in Dubai and the current one in Bahrain, all came through the Gulf News Appointments section. From Mr Thulasidas Othayoth Bahrain
Children's paper Gulf News is a very good paper. It is very informative, and I have been reading it for the past year. I especially like the Business pages and also enjoyed the pictures and coverage on the recent rains in the UAE. The paper gives an impartial view on events and happenings around the region. My only suggestion is that if more features were provided for children, it would be wonderful. Funday is a great section and it should be expanded. From Mr Adosh Tikekar Dubai
Addicted I have been reading Gulf News for the past four years and find it to be a truly objective and reliable source for news. The website is also fantastic, and I often log in at work. I am addicted to Traffic Watch and weather updates, since these are two aspects that affect us when we are out driving on the roads. The website has quick updates and is easy to navigate. I wish the paper all the best in the future. From Ms Seema Manoj Sharjah
Morning choice I have been a subscriber to Gulf News since 1986. I have seen the changes it has undergone and have even had some of my letters and articles published in the past. My children used to participate in many of the contests by Gulf News and won a lot of prizes. My preferred time to read Gulf News is in the morning, before I go to work. I enjoy reading the Opinion section, as I am always interested in the politics of Asia.
However, I have noticed some things that could be improved in Gulf News, such as spellings and excessive use of jargon. Also, sometimes it feels as though the reports are repeating the same information. It would be better if those reports were simply made into news briefs, which highlight the main point of the issue. From Mr Ram Saraswat Ras Al Khaimah
Improvement I have been a Gulf News reader for 22 years. What first attracted me and what continues to do so is the layout and print of the newspaper. When I first started reading the newspaper, I would sometimes feel that the reports were biased and that there was a lot of jargon being used. Nowadays, Gulf News has improved immensely.
My favourite section is the Letters to the Editor because it gives me a perspective on what is happening through other people's thoughts.
I once wanted to submit an article through the website but could not find any guidelines, which made it seem not very user friendly. It was only after I sent an e-mail that I was informed what I needed to do. One thing that could be very helpful to readers would be if Gulf News would do a table of contents or a synopsis of the reports that were published in the newspaper, so people could directly find the section they want to read. From Mr Murugesh Sambasadhasivam Dubai
Reader concerns I have been in the UAE for about 15 years and have always enjoyed Gulf News. The layout is good and the front page is always fantastic. I used to be a regular contributor to the Letters to the Editor section, and have at least 100 letters published there, which incidentally is my favourite section as I can see the cross-section of society that is reflected in the letters.
I like the way that Gulf News has been giving focus to its readers through things like the Gulf News Reader's Club and the Letters to the Editor section. But I would like to see more space allocated for reader issues, so that the Letters to the Editor could cover a whole page instead of the half page it currently has. From Mr Eappen Elias Dubai
Value for money A Gulf News reader for 10 years, I find that the newspaper is very useful when it comes to business matters, as I am a financial executive.
It keeps me up-to-date with all the latest happenings. I have read other newspapers but none provide coverage as comprehensive as yours, which is a high priority for me. From Mr Rajendra T. V. Dubai
