Abu Dhabi: Movie lovers in the capital are promised to have good time watching Italian and Iranian films in July.
Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) will host a cultural week for selected Italian films that established the cinema industry in Italy and influenced film makers by reflecting Italian life between 1943 and 1952.
The programme includes selection of classics from Italian directors Vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini and Luchino Visconti.
ADACH also will host a cultural week for Iranian contemporary films. The programme will host number of award-winning films from directors Abbas Kiarostami and Mohsin Makhmalbaf.
ADACH has given young Emirati and Arab talents a chance to study cinema in the cinema academy established last February in cooperation with New York Film Academy.
Cannes participation
At the same time, ADACH is taking part in Cannes Film Festival held in May 14-25, in order to exchange experience with film makers, producers and film festival directors.
ADACH is also working on promoting the second round of Middle East International Film Festival that was held in Abu Dhabi for the first time last October.
