Abu Dhabi: Residents wishing to register for the Emirates identity card will no longer have to wait at the registration centre, as they can now book for an appointment online, at the call centre or at kiosks.
The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) launched an appointment booking facility on Monday allowing the public to save time for registration at the authority.
Using the appointment reservation service, one can book an appointment for registering for ID cards at the authority or at a mobile registration vehicle, senior EIDA officials said.
Bookings can be made via the EIDA website, call centre or kiosks.
"The service has been introduced to offer maximum comfort to the public and for avoiding congestion within the registration centre", said Darwish Ahmad Al Zarouni, the Director General of EIDA.
The ID card is mandatory for all residents of United Arab Emirates, whether nationals or expatriates of above 15 years old, who are living lawfully in U.A.E.
Once a person books an appointment, he or she would receive an SMS to confirm the date and time. Appointment date can either be changed or deleted 24 hours prior to the specified time.
