Dubai: The recent rains that have cooled the emirates are set to clear by Eid Al Adha.
Many across the country have welcomed the unusual, wet conditions, with children in particular taking the opportunity to have fun splashing about in the puddles. Adult residents, however, have complained that the rain has created traffic problems.
Giorgio Alessio, duty forecaster at the Dubai Meteorological Office, said the weather would remain changeable for a few days, with a chance of heavy thunder showers in coastal areas, such as Jebel Ali and Jumeirah in Dubai.
Unsettled
"The weather will stay very unsettled until Sunday, with isolated rain showers [last night] and the chance of more rain [this] evening. From Sunday it will settle down and most of the rain will be gone. Next week will be nice and settled," he said.
Abraham Jacob, meteorological officer at Sharjah International Airport's Department of Civil Aviation, agreed that rain could fall on the country for a few days yet.
"There are clouds all over the UAE with intermittent rain and strong winds - we can't rule out rain over the whole of the UAE," he said.
"People in mountainous areas need to take care as unexpected flooding in Wadi areas can be dangerous. The sea is very rough, so fishermen also need to take care. It should clear on Sunday or Monday," Jacob said.
Temperatures
Weather experts said temperatures across the country are set to increase to around 28C during sunny spells next week, but will not rise further.
Motorists have been advised to take care when driving in wet and windy conditions, as puddles form quickly during rainstorms, increasing the chances of skidding.
