Dubai: The roads in the UAE were filled with tailbacks of traffic on Wednesday after multiple accidents broke out across busy highways in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Commuters travelling from Sharjah to Dubai faced heavy traffic snarls on Al Ittihad Road, especially near the exit towards Umm Ramool.

Major delays were reported on Al Khail Road near the Dubai Mall exit towards Abu Dhabi, causing congestion and further tailbacks to the morning rush.

An accident happened on Maliha Road heading towards Emirates Road, Abu Dhabi-bound, with both roads crawling with traffic.

Three more accidents were also reported on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road, on the Ras Al Khor Road interchange towards Dubai, and on Hessa Street near the Al Khail Road exit.

An accident affected Shaikh Zayed Road near Al Barsha Heights in the direction towards the Dubai World Trade Centre, causing further traffic congestion in and around the area.

Traffic delays then spread all along from MBZ Road after a car crash was reported near Dubai Investments Park.

Another accident on MBZ Road also took place near the Airport Road intersection.

In Abu Dhabi, motorists faced traffic snarls on Suweihan Road when an accident happened after Suweihan Bridge, affecting traffic for nearly one hour and a half.

Traffic was also delayed on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi road due to an accident after Al Raha Beach, blocking the left lane.
