Dubai: A motorcyclist and a pillion rider were killed after a truck hit them in Al Quoz industrial area on Sunday, a Dubai Traffic Police official has said.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that the motorcyclist and the pillion rider, both Asians, were in the right lane when the truck suddenly entered their lane and hit them.
“The truck crashed into the bike, which resulted in the death of both the driver and the person with him. The accident took place on an inner road beside Grand Mall at 9pm,” he said.
A jaywalker was also killed and another pedestrian suffered major injuries after he was hit by a minibus in two separate traffic accidents which occurred in the last few days, he said.
Giving details about the jaywalker who was killed last Thursday after crossing the Dubai-Al Ain Road, he said the Asian man was hit by a vehicle. “The man died on the spot because of the grievous injuries he sustained.”
Brig Al Mazroui earlier said that Dubai Police have held several awareness campaigns about the dangers of jaywalking, but people continue to do it.
In another accident in Al Rashidiya area on a road leading to Al Rabat street, a truck overturned after it veered off the road. “The accident did not cause any injuries or casualties.”
